Brookfield East junior Jake Zheng has once again showcased his exceptional talent in public speaking and debate. Following his national victory in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) 'Introduction to Public Speaking' event, Zheng has now earned the title of 2025 Wisconsin State Champion in Congressional Debate at the Wisconsin Forensic Coaches Association (WFCA) State Congress Tournament.
The state tournament was held on April 4th, at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, bringing together top student speakers and debaters from across the state. Competing in the historic chambers of the Wisconsin State Capitol, Zheng demonstrated his prowess in legislative debate, securing the championship title.
Reflecting on his achievement, Zheng expressed his gratitude saying, "It was a great experience representing Brookfield East! I appreciate my team's support, and special thanks to my debate coach, Mr. Justin Flynn of the Elmbrook Schools, for guiding me throughout this journey."
Zheng's accomplishments this academic year are noteworthy. In addition to his FBLA national championship and state debate title, he has served as a Student Representative to the Board of Education and was elected Class President at Brookfield East High School. His leadership and dedication continue to inspire his peers and the broader school community.
