Brookfield East’s Jake Zheng and Ryker Koch captured the WIAA Division 1 Boys Tennis Doubles State Championship, defeating Menomonee Falls in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, in the championship match. Entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed, Zheng and Koch advanced through a challenging bracket before claiming the state title and capping off an outstanding season for the Spartans.

Brookfield East and Brookfield Central were well represented at the 2026 WIAA Division 1 Individual State Tournament, with athletes competing in both singles and doubles competition. In singles, Brookfield Central’s Andrey Semin earned a runner-up finish after advancing to the state championship match. Semin won four consecutive matches to reach the finals.

Brookfield East’s Clark Meyers also turned in a strong performance in the singles tournament, advancing to the quarterfinal round after defeating individuals from Madison West and Cedarburg. Additional state qualifiers included Brookfield East’s Luca Bonfilio and Brookfield Central’s Noah Weitzer.

In doubles competition, Brookfield Central’s Sam Lodes and David Chung advanced to the state quarterfinals, winning two matches before falling to the tournament’s top-seeded team from Menomonee Falls. Teammates Diogo Trevizan and Tyshi Olveda also reached the third round after opening the tournament with a victory over Pewaukee.

The performances of Zheng and Koch, Semin, and the other state qualifiers highlighted another successful season for both Brookfield East and Brookfield Central boys tennis programs. Congratulations to all of the athletes and coaches on representing their schools at the highest level of Wisconsin high school tennis and bringing home a Division 1 state championship and a Division 1 state runner-up finish.
